WHY ALL THREE?
(aka that interdisciplinary approach we're talking about.)
INTERDISCIPLINARY
"Interdisciplinary" is a fancy of way of saying we're connecting a bunch of seemingly disconnected ideas. In music, we'd call this a "collab." With food, we'd label it a "fusion." An interdisciplinary approach comes from the idea that there's value in looking at complex ideas through multiple lenses. In other words, it helps us see. And around here, we're all about perspective.

THEOLOGY:
What is theology? Easy definition, complex implications: the study of God. For many of us, God is an abstract idea. Bring up the word at a party with any seriousness, and watch the awkwardness unleash. Notice how, as a group, we haven't arrived at a consensus on who he is, what he's like, or what to do with him. Is he a legend? a myth? A pre-scientific necessity for the stability of society? Can God be manipulated? Is he manipulative? Why has so much harm and brutality been carried out in the name of the Church? We're going to look at all of this, and more. Oh — and we're going to use our Creator's name, Yahweh.
PSYCHOLOGY
Second, we'll look at psychology. Originally, psychology meant the study of the soul. And that's how we mean it. Yes, that includes your brain and your nervous system, but we want to take all that and go a layer deeper. We don't believe you're just a bundle of atoms and organs wandering around on the planet until you die — you're much more. And if you are feeling miserable, there's a reason. We weren't made for decay. We were made for flourishing — fully connected, known, safe, and loved.
CREATIVITY
And finally, creativity — the seemingly wild card of this whole crew. Like psychology, we're expanding our understanding of creativity beyond watercolors and finger painting (though those are included). Creativity is about what we bring into the world and how we show up to shape it. We can connect ideas and materials in unique ways (generative creativity), and we can reconnect existing things to fix or improve them (recreative creativity). So you can be fascinated by science, business, ballet, or welding pipes — you're creative. And there's something meaningful for you to do.
